Dr Ezura Madiana is a Lecturer/Family Medicine Specialist in Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Center (UKMMC). She is a mother of 3 (going to be 4 soon), in which her 3rd child has Down syndrome, all successfully breastfed. She has been involved in breastfeeding counseling and education since 2005 after the birth of her first child. She was awarded with Monetary Investment for Lactation Consultant Certification (MILCC) scholarship and obtained her International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in 2010. She is one of the Malaysian Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (MBfPC) Program Administrators, who is involved in the training of breastfeeding peer counselors in Malaysia under the Malaysian Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program Association (MBfPCA). She is also the Committee Member for UKMMC Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), which was accredited with the BFHI status in 2012. Ezura loves writing and is one of the columnists at Majalah Ibu & Anak and also a guest writer at The Malaysian Medical Gazette, writing on breastfeeding education and support. She is also the reviewer of Hebatnya Susu Ibu by Rita Rahayu Omar, IBCLC and a visiting lactation consultant at Susuibu.com. She has a deep interest in breastfeeding research and has been presenting her researches at international conferences including in Melbourne, Australia and Brunei Darussalam.
Since the birth of her special child with Down syndrome in 2012, Ezura has been actively involved in supporting parents with Down syndrome. She is one of the active members of the Parents Support Group Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation National Centre, engaging in outreach program to create awareness on Down syndrome. Her articles on Down syndrome and supporting children with disabilities had appeared in doktorbudak.com and Berita Harian. She is also the reviewer of Balqis di Mata Kami, Di Sisi-Nya, by Ummu Naufal, an inspiring true story of a child with Cerebral Palsy.
